Red Lines

Sir, - It comes as no surprise that Amir Peretz, Israel's failed former Minister of Defense, is consistent in his strategic myopia and now advocates that our negotiations with the Palestinians should be based on the indefensible borders of 1967.

What is however rather shocking, is the glaring incongruity of his regular meetings with the jailed arch terrorist Marwan Barghouti and concluding that he is a worthy peace partner and ally. Any attempt to legitimize Barghouti who was sentenced by Israeli courts to five life terms plus 40 years, for the masterminding of heinous terror atrocities is nothing less than moral perversity and a gross display of contempt for Israel's judiciary.

Even politicians running for office should have red lines that may not be crossed.
