Noam Chomsky, Desmond Tutu Endorse 'Flytilla'
Sir, - I was truly dismayed, but not at all surprised, to read the names of Nobel Peace Prize winner Desmond Tutu and linguist Noam Chomsky among the endorsers of the 'flytilla' attempt by pro-Palestinian activists to land en masse at Ben-Gurion Airport.
According to a message posted on the umbrella organization website overseeing the initiative, the purpose is to"challenge the brutal crimes committed against a virtually defenseless Palestinian civilian population by settler paramilitaries and the army".
It must be stated with the utmost vigor that these purported brutal crimes have been witnessed by no news group or any other group of neutral observers, yet this anti-Israel protest has been endorsed by the two gentlemen named above.
What is most disturbing and completely hypocritical is the absence of the names Tutu and Chomsky in the protests against the daily deliberate massacres by Assad's army of his own defenseless citizens. Yet these atrocities on the other hand, have been duly witnessed and reported by an international group of reporters and have been shown on the world's T.V. screens for several weeks.
