Gershon Baskin on Releasing Terrorists

Sir, - Gershon Baskin seems to totally identify with the Palestinian demands concerning the release of their prisoners. He even manages, without enormous subtlety, to inject a thinly veiled threat that this is the issue "which has the greatest capacity to bring us all to the next intifada."

I think that Gershon Baskin is a most suitable candidate to head these negotiations, based on the experience gained in his participation in the efforts to obtain the release of Gilad Shalit. He should be encouraged to repeat his "audacious" achievement when presenting Israel's equitable offer: the release of one Palestinian prisoner in exchange for a total of one thousand terrorists, one half from Hamas's Izz al-Din al-Qassam and the remainder from the PA's al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade. Baskin thus has the opportunity to earn our unqualified admiration and respect.
